Max Uy was raised in Fremont, California. Shortly after he graduated high school, Sheriff Uy joined the U.S. Army receiving infantry and paratrooper training while the United States was involved with Operation Desert Storm. He ultimately relocated to the East Coast as a member of the Old Guard 3rd US Infantry Regiment, before joining the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office as a deputy in 1994.
A QUALIFIED CANDIDATE
Sheriff Uy currently serves as the 62nd Sheriff for Montgomery County and the first Asian American to hold that office. Over the past three decades, Sheriff Uy has served in every leadership position within the department. His career progression includes experience in the Criminal Section, Domestic Violence Section—both as a Deputy and a supervising Sergeant—and the Court & Transportation Section. Additionally, he has served as a Sergeant and Training Coordinator at the Montgomery County Public Safety Academy, working closely with the Montgomery County Police Department. Be it S.W.A.T. Hostage Negotiator, or Contract Security, Sheriff Max Uy has done it all!
